CONGRATS TO NFC CHAMPS NEW ORLEANS SAINTS!

The New Orleans Saints just made history! They’re the new NFC Champs and going to the first Superbowl in team history! So now they’re facing off with another New Orleans boy Peyton Manning and the Colts for the biggie. From the Superdome filled with thousands in grief in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina…to now filled with thousands in pure joy…amazing.

Powe Set To Sign with Cavs

According to Espn.com Oakland's own Leon Powe has agreed to a 2 year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and will make the league minimum for players who have played at least three years in the NBA.

It would have been great if the Warriors signed him, and not just because he's an Oakland Tech boy, but because he would bring some much needed hustle and muscle down-low. That hometown hopefulness aside, he couldn't have picked a better team to sign with. He gets to play with LeBron, who he teamed up with on an AAU team back in the day, and he gets to be on another title contender. First he backed up Kevin Garnett in Boston and now he gets to support Shaq in Cleveland, both of which look pretty good on a resume. Leon will not be able to play until late in the season, if at all because of another knee injury, but the Cavs team doctors examined him and felt good enough to sign him for a couple years.

Leon is also hosting his annual basketball camp at Merritt College, which he has hosted since he was a rookie with the Boston Celtics. This year the camp is focusing on more then just hoop though, with Kaiser, Home Depot, Peet's, Yoshi's and others donating their services to put on a more well-rounded event. The event is called "Fresh Start Family Services," which is also the name of Leon's non-profit organization. The Tribune wrote up his camp today, which everyone should check out. If you would like to register your child for the basketball camp, which is on Friday and Saturday, go to Leon's website.

Terrell Owens Signs With Buffalo

The AFC East was the most hotly contested division in football last season. Any one of three teams – the Patriots, Jets and Dolphins – had a chance to win the division on the final weekend. The only team which didn’t got better Saturday, at least on paper.
The Bills, who have gone 7-9 each of the last three years and haven’t made the playoffs since 1999, signed wide receiver Terrell Owens three days after the Cowboys released him. He makes Buffalo relevant and injects some excitement into a franchise that has used seven starting quarterbacks the last nine years.

The Bills have been too conservative on offense and need another weapon to compete in that division. With T.O. and Lee Evans, Trent Edwards now has two receivers who can stretch the field.

Despite his constant craving for attention, playing in a small market like Buffalo might be the best thing for Owens. He can be the biggest attraction on a team filled mostly with non-descript players. And playing on the East coast will get him national attention, especially when the Bills play the Jets and Patriots. He’s probably also looking forward to playing the Dolphins because of Bill Parcells.
